background band works in pdf but not in html

hello,

 

i've created a report and added in the background band a large light grey text "DRAFT" to act as a background image or watermark.

 

for this to look nicely i had to check the transparent flag for any object 'above' my background "DRAFT" text.

 

the pdf format of my report looks perfect, but the html format does not display the background text at all.

 

does anyone know what i'm doing wrong or have any experience in doing this?
