Can't compile a report - even welcome report

2003-05-21 05:42

I can't compile any reports. I have no problems creating a report against my datasource (mySQL right now) but it won't compile. I tried compiling the welcome report but that one doesn't work either. Here's the debug I get when I try to compile any report. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm running iReport 0.1.0 and for my jre I've tried 1.4 and 1.3.1, both with the same results.

Hi,

I have the same problem.

I make some test with strange result....

I have Windows Xp and JRE 1.4 and VisualAge 4.0.

If i run java in a "real" Dos Window i get compile error.

If i run java directly (like start->run or a link file) it works.

If i run the same code in Visual Age with java 1.3, i have no problem.

If i use iReport and compile some report it works.

There is some difference in the enviroment of the java VM ?.

Check your Classpath, from the toolbar, select Database>Classpath.

In my installation, I found that the .jar files were not as indicated by default, C:iReportbin ..lib, but rather in c:iReportlib.

After adding this directory to the Classpath, my reports compiled correctly.

Hope this helps.

Nope, still doesn't work. I added the directory (moved everything to c:iReports and the lib directory is c:iReportslib), and even added the jar files individually. I still get the same error.

I even removed the ..lib entries, but they keep showing back up each time I launch the program.

In your error message, I don't see any reference to the java sdk path, which is the first line reported in the iReport Compiler Tool.

It is something like:

C:j2sdk1.4.1_02binjava.exe-Dorg.xml.sax.driver=org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser IReportComplier -c -pdf "C:iReport-0.1.0binwelcome.xml"

Is the Classpath for the Java home correct?

In my case it is C:j2sdk1.4.1_02.

C:Program FilesIBMApplication Developerjrebinjava.exe -Dorg.xml.sax.driver=org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser IReportCompiler -c -pdf "C:iReportbinwelcome.xml"

That's my first line, I just didn't paste that line. I'm currently pointing at a 1.3.1 jre that comes with my WSAD application version 5.0. I've tried using the 1.4.0 jdk and I got the same results. I will try and download the latest jdk and use that.

Well it's working, sort of

I went out and downloaded the latest jdk, 1.4.2 beta. iReport will now compile, but I thought that it would work with earlier jdks? Do I really have to have 1.4.2 for this to work?
