Working with Jaspersoft Dashboards

This section describes functionality that can be restricted by the software license for JasperReports Server. If you don’t see some of the options described in this section, your license may prohibit you from using them. To find out what you're licensed to use, or to upgrade your license, contact Jaspersoft.

A Jaspersoft dashboard displays several reports in a single, integrated view. A dashboard can include input controls for choosing the data displayed in one or more dashlets, and custom dashlets that point to URLs for other content. By combining different types of related content, you can create appealing, data-rich dashboards that quickly convey trends.

Sample dashboard

Dashboards created with JasperReports Server 6.0 and later use the Dashboard Designer, Jaspersoft's web UI for grouping all of these elements, along with creating new content from existing JasperReports Server data sources. The majority of the information in this chapter applies to dashboards created with JasperReports Server 6.0 and later.

If you're working with an earlier version of JasperReports Server, or dashboards created in an earlier version (regardless of your currently-installed version of JasperReports Server), you'll find information on working with dashboards at the end of this chapter, in section Viewing Legacy Jaspersoft Dashboards
