Check boxes for parameters

I am very much a newcomer to Jasper Reports.   I am a network administrator and have little programming experience beyond pretty basic scripting. I need to create a series of reports for an existing SQL based cashless catering system.  I am basing them on a set of old Crystal Reports and some of those involve check boxes to enter parameters.  An example is that the user will need to enter ALL or a selection of Till numbers say from 1-6.  The report will then contain information from those selected tills.  The reports I have created so far (originally using iReport now in Jaspersoft Studio Designer) use Jasper Starter to run them but they only allow me to enter a single till so I have to run the report several times to get the info I need.  Am I correct in thinking that I cannot do what I want unless I install JasperReports Server?  If I did install the server will I be able to do this without programming?

ok.

1. you need install jasperserver becouse the parameters (textbox, listbox, checkbox) are configured on the server.

2. before install jasperserver you  upload the report to jasperserver

3.create a parameter in Jasperserver type "list of values (checkbox)"
