text output contains blank line after every two rows of data

I am attempting to replace an existing text report with a text created in iReports.  The format must match the previous version exactly therefore I have a query that returns a single concatenated line.  The column alignment and spacing matches the old report perfectly however there is a blank line after every two lines of data.  I have searched and searched for a for a way to omit the blank line but have found no solution. 

I found two ways to turn off the double page break line.  (report level property Ignore Pagination and Text Export Parameter check box "Don't put any text between pages")

Using Jaspersoft iReport Designer 4.1.1 and Oracle 11g via JBDC.
