Problem with unicode sample in pdf

I'm having trouble with some unicode characters not showing up in pdf. I've been able to duplicate the problem running the unicode sample in ireport. If I run the sample, then copy and paste the character U+04BC(Cyrillic Capital Letter Abkhazian Che) from wikipedia into the input and output to pdf, the character does not show. If I outpuf it to html it works fine.

I've tried pasting in other characters such as U+04A2 (Cyrillic Capital Letter En with descender) and it works fine. Is the problem a limitation of the arial.ttf font included with the samples? Does it not include some characters? If so, is there a more complete font out there?

To answer my own question, the problem is the font. It does not offer full unicode support.
