$V{REPORT_COUNT} not displaying in header section

I have a requirement in such a way that i need to display the count of sub reports that is getting displayed in the header of the main report .

Iam using $V{REPORT_COUNT} for this purpose.when i am displaying the same in detial ssection it is displaying but if i am trying to displaying in header section it is displayig 0...plz give me the solution

Hi ,

 

you should play around with the "evaluation time" of this text field.

I use iReport , there you find it in the properties of the text field on the tab with the name "text field". It look like this

Set it to report , which means the variable is calculated at the end of the report. If you have this in the Header an it is set to "now" you will receive a "0", because no subreports have been created at the beginning.

You could also hack the xml file of course
