Return value from subreport -- restrictions?

I have found, that if I have a subreport in a group header, a return value from this subreport is not available in the same band, but only in any band below.

 

Can anyone confirm or contradict this restriction?

That will depend entirely on the setting of the Evaluation Time Expression for the Text Field that displays the returned value.

 

 

By default the setting will be "Now" and the return value is not available. But if you set it to a more appropriate value (eg. Group, Column, Page, or Report) then you will be able to see values that reflect that evaluation time setting.
