How to set layout direction in jasper for RTL reports?

I have just downloaded jasper and I am supposed to generate reports in Arabic/Farsi.

I have surfed the net and most of questions are from the past like this post saying that there is no such a thing (ie RTL layout).

Please let me know what the status is for version 5.6.0 does it support RTL layout??? I mean suppose I have a query like select a, b from tab; is it possible to have column a right to b?

i dont know if below would solve your purpose or not, but string reversing can be used and print right to left characters.

new StringBuilder($F{FIELD}).reverse().toString()
