What is the way to get a report by Month in iReport ? (in XML codes or iReport Designer) (jasperServer)

I have a report and it has 5 sub reports under itself. İn this report there are 2 parameters and "getDate" which means pull reports by that format (dd/mm/yyyy). I use java.util.Date as a parameter class. For subreports and top report I use parameter $P{getDate} for getting report for a special day which is choosing by user. I want to convert getDate to getMonth and getting reports not daily, for getting monthly. Could you help me about converting dd/mm/yyyy to Month ? P.S. I'm using iReport I must solve my problem with sql statement or with XML codes in iReport, not with java codes or any other.
